Dutch CORE is proud to represent its first microdrama

Ahead of MIPCOM Cannes, Dutch CORE is proud to represent its first microdrama, The Last Summer, produced by EveryMedia.

The 10x2' series follows thirteen-year-old Sosha during a holiday at a campsite, where she hopes to share her first kiss with employee Sven. Her overprotective mother is never far away, and the confident Zoë has set her sights on Sven as well. Sosha is also carrying a secret that will change everything once it is revealed, and the question that drives the series is how Sven will react when he learns why this is her last summer vacation.

Written from the child's perspective, The Last Summer addresses a universal theme: the longing to be seen as an ordinary teenager, however extraordinary the circumstances. This gives the series an emotional resonance that travels well across borders. With 18M+ views in the Netherlands alone, and with European vertical production growing rapidly, it is a proven success that Dutch CORE is now bringing to the international floors of the Palais.

The series reflects the thinking behind the company's wider slate. In an interview with C21, Lorraine Joore, senior sales executive at Dutch CORE, said: "We're looking for stories that have a clear reason to exist. That might be an investigative documentary offering access to a world that audiences rarely see, a historical story that gives a new perspective on the past or a children's series exploring something young audiences are experiencing themselves."
